INNSBRUCK, Austria - June 28, 2021 - PRLog -- During the COVID-19 pandemic, three software engineers passionate about open-source code wanted to come up with a geek-friendly way to decorate their home offices.

Unfortunately, finding unique art to inspire code lovers like them wasn't easy.

They wondered: What if you could create a visual representation of a person's GitHub timeline as a sort of motivational medal of the hard work they'd contributed to a project?

The trio of open source programmers Wolfgang Gassler, Matthias Endler, and Mischa Helfenstein, who deal with data on a daily basis, saw more in raw data than just zeros and ones. So they tried to turn their code into art. The result was to create Codeprints. a one-of-a-kind way to immortalize anyone's GitHub contributions.

The new service allows anyone to decorate with personalized physical prints of their GitHub timeline they can hang on their walls at home or at work.

How it works: Users enter a username at codeprints.dev and can then view possible prints of their open-source development work. After choosing their preferred layout and color theme, they can choose from different products, including framed posters, printed canvases, or ceramic mugs.

Each high-quality piece of Codeprints poster art is printed on silk paper fitted into a lightweight frame in the options of black, natural, or white wood. Canvas art is created on a sustainably-sourced canvas and wood frame.

All art is printed on demand and shipped from a local printer partner in one of 20 countries to reduce delivery times and carbon emissions.

"Codeprints are the easiest way to bring your GitHub contributions to the real world," Endler said. "We wanted to create personalized art to remind developers every day of the productive lines of code they've written as they strive to keep going."

According to Gassler, the response to Codeprints in the global developer community has been strong so far.

"The feedback is terrific," he said. " The international interest has delighted and surprised us."
