Boston River Run 5K Celebrates 10th Year

Grassroots charity run/walk fundraiser marks tenth year with in-person event

BOSTON - Nov. 5, 2021 - PRLog -- On Sunday, November 7th, the Boston River Run will celebrate its 10th year of fundraising on behalf of students in need.  In 2012, Sarah and John Narcus formed the Andrew Graham Semper Fi Fund, a volunteer-run 501C3 nonprofit organization.  The Fund was created in memory of John's brother, Andrew Graham Narcus (USMC), who died tragically at the age of 21 in 2002.  The first year's event had over 200 people and the race grew from there, peaking with nearly 1000 registrations in 2015.

Since inception, the Boston River Run has donated more than $125,000 to scholarships for students in need. Most recently, a scholarship has been endowed at Bunker Hill Community College.  The Fund and the Run are both volunteer led, so all proceeds raised at the 10th Annual Boston River Run will go directly to helping students in need. More than a dozen scholarships have been given out at Bunker Hill Community College and Lincoln-Sudbury High School, which Narcus attended before his death.

Attendees on Sunday will include runners; volunteers from local companies, school and individuals; scholarship recipients; sponsors and donors; and Bunker Hill Community College representatives including president Dr. Pam Eddinger.
