After landing a spot on CHOPPED's May 2013 Military Salute episode as the only Navy veteran on the show, where he was runner-up, Ponder realized the potential of using TV appearances and social media to further his already hot career. This led to his appearance on the September 2015 episode of Cutthroat Kitchen and becoming the uncontested champ.

Ponder didn't just let his TV appearances talk for him; he did his own research in the business world as well and came up with his own business plan. With his knowledge, expertise, and publicity, Ponder successfully launched his own business as a personal private chef now has an A-list clientele. Before he made his way onto TV, was a Culinary Specialist in the Navy. became the in-demand chef among admirals and catered functions for profile military officers, prestigious military command, and political officials during his ten year service in the Navy. After integrating back into civilian life, he gained his bachelor's degree from the Culinary Institute of Virginia (ECPI University) and began his career in the food industry.
