Follow on Google News | Elizabeth Erazo Baez Debuts as Illustrator of New Children's Book, "Alicia and the Hurricane"By: Buena Vida Media "I am honored to have been selected to illustrate Alicia and the Hurricane, a book that will resonate with children who have experienced natural disasters. I hope that the colors and scenes of the beloved coquie and tropical scenes will awaken joy and empathy in the minds of young readers everywhere," Baez drew inspiration from the colors, fauna, and nature of her beloved Puerto Rico to paint vivid scenes depicting the story of a young girl and her concern for the tiny native frog that has been an important part of her daily life. Hurricane Maria left the island devastated but the coquie still sings giving hope for a new day, ko-kee, ko-kee. Noted for her philanthropic work and commitment to the advancement of Hispanic and Puerto Rican art globally, Baez has donated works of art for numerous scholarship fundraisers for Latino youth and women, and her art is now part of the art collection at Bay Path University. Her work was on exhibit in the Harlem Fine Art Show Virtual Art Exhibition from February to July of 2021; she was a nominee for "100 Top Puerto Ricans in the USA" by New York Hunter College's Center for Puerto Rican Studies, and she curated the Broward College Annual Hispanic Heritage Group Art Exhibits for 16 years. Baez continues her work in the classroom teaching children to love and appreciate art. Baez will be present at the EXPOLIT Conference, the most important conference for Spanish language Christian literature, music and media in the world, May 18-21 in Miami, FL for a "Meet the Artist" event at the Buena Vida Media booth.
