News From Salzburgerland this Winter

SALZBURGERLAND, Austria - Oct. 26, 2022 - PRLog -- New in SalzburgerLand are 28 designated touring routes across the region's Ski Amadé resorts (a collective with 760km of piste across five areas) – a traditional sport trending for its health-giving escapism in peaceful Alpine surroundings. Each route safely navigates a beautiful ascent through woods and empty snowfields to vantage points where skiers opt for an on or off the piste descent.

Zell-am-See-Kaprun has nominated Ronachkopf its first ski-touring mountain and also has marked ascents on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. Fuschlsee, the Salzburger Saalachtal areas and Obertauern have instructor trails for beginners. And, the Pillstein route is a new high-altitude 2km circuit on the Zwölferhorn overlooking Wolfgangsee Lake.

In Badgastein The Cōmodo, created out of the former Habsburgerhof clinic, opens as SalzburgerLand's newest luxury hotel. Among many improvements to hospitality venues across the region, a number of significant refurbishments and developments to hotel or apartment accommodation have launched in Rauris, Mattsee Lake, Fuschlsee, Leogang and Obertauern.

Each resort offers discounted low-season weeks, flexible lift passes – the earlier you buy the cheaper they are – and innovative and fun in-resort experiences. A couple of standouts include the Hexen Funline in Almenwelt Lofer for families (an easy piste suitable for children along which 24 witches screech as skiers pass by) and, not for the faint-hearted, the Ice4Life event in Gastein (26-29 Jan '23 details here): competitors spend an hour running and cross-country skiing followed by a 10-minute dip in ice-cold water.

SalzburgerLand, acknowledged the 'greenest' region in Europe, comprises 22 ski resorts.
