Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties Awards Local Scholarships

DURHAM, N.C. - April 3, 2023 - PRLog -- The Home Builders Association (HBA) of Durham, Orange & Chatham (DOC) Counties recently celebrated its Spring Membership Meeting by awarding $10,000 in scholarships to six area high school seniors pursuing college degrees in fields related to the construction industry. The Foundation Board of the HBADOC, a 501c3 charitable organization, has awarded nearly $300,000 to area students over the past 26 years. The HBADOC raises money for the HBADOC Foundation through an annual scholarship auction event.

The scholarship recipients recognized at the event were Lucius Birkholz, Gianmarc Byers, Andrew Cox, Brooklyn Hymas, Abigail Jacob, Chris Mitchell, Gabrielle Sielken (L.E. Meyers Scholarship recipient), Jordann Smith-Burgess, Jocelyn Thompson, and Reece Wilburn (PWB Scholarship recipient).

"Honoring these students, the future of our industry, is why I have served on this board for over 20 years" stated Michele Myers of M Squared Builders, the Vice Chair of the HBA Foundation. HBA CEO and Foundation Executive Director Holly Fraccaro added, "I could not be more proud to serve the HBA of Durham, Orange and Chatham Counties and its Foundation. The charitable spirit of our members inspires me year after year."

Sponsored by Professional Builders Supply and Fitch Lumber Company, David Fitch of Fitch Lumber Company served as Master of Ceremony at the Scholarship Awards event. Gian Hasbrock, President of WOWISM (Walk On Water Inspired Sales and Marketing) delivered the key note address.

Founded in 1962, the HBDOC is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders and the North Carolina Home Builders Association.
