MANHATTAN, N.Y. - May 26, 2023 - PRLog -- DKBmed LLC, together with the John Hopkins School of Medicine and the Institute for Johns Hopkins Nursing, is releasing a fresh fifth installment and a special edition of its eMultipleSclerosis Review series. This online literature review series curates the latest medical literature and succinctly illustrates how clinicians can apply new findings and treatments into routine practice.

Renewal of the program comes after the success of Volume 4, which drew over 6,700 participants, 4,900 app downloads, and over 43,000 page views. After completing Volume 4, 95% of readers and podcast listeners agreed their medical practice knowledge improved. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a highly heterogenous, demyelinating disorder estimated to affect approximately 2.1 million individuals worldwide. Through the fifth volume of the eMultipleSclerosis Review series, neurologists and other clinicians can gain greater insights on:
  • New and emerging disease-modifying treatments (DMTs)
  • Strategies to reduce infection risks when using DMTs
  • Ways to ensure equal access to care

Like its predecessors, this new volume of the eMultipleSclerosis Review series will consist of six journal briefs delivered bimonthly and six case-based podcasts/webcasts delivered on alternating months. Each brief, written by a clinician with expertise in that brief's topic, reviews the most relevant literature pertinent to the specific topic whereas each podcast/webcast assesses patient cases and models ways in which clinicians can improve their practice using information provided in the preceding journal brief.

"Although therapeutics have advanced considerably in the last two decades, MS still lacks a cure and is a lifelong condition that can sometimes cause serious disability," notes Dr. Melanie Ward, Assistant Professor at WVU Department of Neurology. "Resources, such as the eMultipleSclerosis review, are vital in closing practice gaps and providing more effective patient care In addition, eMultipleSclerosis Review Special Edition 2023 will specifically examine spasticity, one of the most bothersome symptoms of MS and the safety and efficacy of cannabis-based treatments."
