DETROIT - Aug. 3, 2023 - PRLog -- One of the Detroit area's prominent nonprofit educational organizations, St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center (http://www.svsfcenter.org/) (SVSF), has named Michael Mroz as the new director of their Children's Education Program.

Mroz first joined SVSF in 2021 as the Children's Program coordinator, in the midst of the pandemic. In that time, he helped to develop and schedule both remote and in-person learning plans, as needed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The individualized learning plans he developed were critical in supporting the Center's Detroit students in grades 1-6.

"I help kids by meeting them where they're at," said Mroz. "Especially when it came to COVID, it was especially important to help them learn the key skills they needed to succeed, during a challenging period in education. Now we are having to understand and respond to the impact the pandemic had upon learning and identify how to expedite filling those shortfalls."

In his new position, Mroz hopes to offer a wider range of services to students in the children's program, including career-focused curriculum.

"We're very fortunate to have Mike on our team," said Diane Renaud, SVSF's Executive Director/CEO. "He's incredibly dedicated to the success of our students, and we are excited about the innovative ideas he is bringing to the Center.  I am confident this program will continue to thrive under his leadership."

Before his work with SVSF, Mroz worked as an education program manager for the Michigan Science Center and as an academic coordinator for Downtown Boxing Gym.
