Shirley Jones of R&B Group The Jones Girls Releases New Single

ATLANTA - Aug. 10, 2023 - PRLog -- Shirley Jones, from R&B music group The Jones Girls, announces the upcoming release of her new single, "When You Love Somebody" available for download and on all streaming platforms on August 24, 2023.  The love song, written by Michon Young, is the first single off her forthcoming fall tribute album, "In Loving Memory" dedicated to the memory of her late sisters Brenda and Valerie Jones of the Jones Girls legacy.

In the new single, Jones' sweet, sultry, soprano voice glides effortlessly over the heartfelt melody delivering profound lyrics. When You Love Somebody is a song that expresses the true essence of loving somebody wholeheartedly; it's a cross-generational true love song for all ages," states R&B icon Shirley Jones.

After singing background for many renowned artists like Teddy Pendergrass, Aretha Franklin, and Diana Ross, to name a few, Shirley, along with her sisters, rose to stardom as the Jones Girls becoming one of the top R&B girl groups of the late 70s/early 80s.  Their unique harmonies were soon matched with producer legends Gamble & Huff resulting in top ten hits that include the gold-selling You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else, I Just Love the Man, and fan favorites Nights Over Egypt and Who Can I Run To (whose 1995 remake by Xscape went to #1).

In 1986 Shirley launched a successful solo career with her first single, Do You Get Enough Love debuting on Billboard at #1. In honor of her sisters' memory, Shirley is dedicated to keeping the Jones Girls legacy alive as she continues to sing and tour both in the United States and abroad.
