AI's role is assisted design rather than directly generation to ensure the sustainable development

TAOYUAN, Taiwan - Aug. 11, 2023 - PRLog -- AI has the capability to swiftly and powerfully handle tasks from 1 to 100. However, when everyone relies on AI for tasks from 1 to 100, the originality of 0 to 1 can be sidelined and overlooked. It's important to note that AI's strength relies on the creative input of humans in the 0 to 1 realm, which is used for training text or sampling images. When AI becomes the sole generator and human creativity diminishes, the growth of training text and image databases stagnates. If every industry ceases to contribute original creative work, the potential for development and educational training will be severely hindered.

Therefore, encouraging originality is a vital factor in maintaining human civilization. Dr. Hung-Chih Lu, a versatile designer across various fields, emphasizes that he remains committed to the creative process starting from manual sketches, digital drawings, and extending to AI assistance. The AI-generated portion serves as a reference and aid, not a complete replacement.

In figure 1, a fashion presentation featuring virtual models is illustrated. The process involves using one AI to generate a lifelike virtual model, another AI to adjust poses and clothing, and then finalizing the result through manual refinement. This can be accomplished in a matter of minutes to half an hour, eliminating the need for real models and photographers. The work holds significant commercial value and avoids issues related to portrait rights.

In figure 2, an architectural design for a solar-powered simulated wooden house is depicted. Dr. Hung-Chih Lu explains that in the past, without AI assistance, achieving realism required extensive creation not only of the central design but also its surrounding context. The peripheral landscape, often requiring substantial time and effort, sometimes overshadowed the primary design. However, with AI's aid, the focus shifts to the core 3D modeling and rendering (as shown in the lower part of Figure 2), while AI generates the peripheral landscape. This approach allows for different aesthetic and visual representations when the solar-powered wooden house is constructed in a city (as shown in the lower part of Figure 2) versus being built in a rural setting (as shown in the upper part of Figure 2).

Dr. Hung-Chih Lu underscores that the healthiest relationship between humans and AI involves humans leading the creative process while AI handles non-creative aspects, fostering mutual growth. He sincerely hopes for a collaborative partnership between humans and AI, one where they thrive together, explore the mysteries of immortality and the universe beyond our galaxy, rather than the doomsday scenario depicted by James Cameron.
