By: Say Grace RALEIGH, N.C. - Nov. 3, 2023 - PRLog -- North Carolina food truck Soul in a Bowl and non-profit Woven and Friends have partnered again this year to provide free cooked meals and winter items for those in need this Thanksgiving. This is the second time that the two organizations have partnered to give back to the Raleigh community.
On Nov. 23, all those in need of a cooked meal or winter items can stop by the initiative's stops with no questions asked and receive a plate and items. Four locations will serve as satellite locations:
The initiative's holiday menu will be a full Thanksgiving meal, consisting of turkey breast, baked chicken, rice, yams, dressing, green beans, rolls, and assorted pie slices. Beverages and bottled water will be available. The initiative's request of winter items includes new scarves, blankets, coats, and socks to help those in need to stay warm. Soul in a Bowl, which specializes in soul food dishes, is a mobile food truck that is also available for catering and family style meals. Woven and Friends, owned by Betty Jo Howell- Jackson, provides a faith-based platform for resources and community. The organization was constructed to bridge all women together while seeking to center women in their faith. Jackson's journey has taken her through several industries such as hospitality, technology, fashion and nonprofit/profit organization. Jackson is also co-owner of Jo Howell Home Accessories and Candles. "Last year, we realized there was a need to provide those in need with warm, cooked food outside of shelters," said Tranita Alexander of Soul in a Bowl. "We often think of conducting food drives during the holidays, but sometimes those in need lack resources or the setup to cook a full Thanksgiving meal." "Last year we saw how much this initiative reached those in need where they are. We wanted to do more and provide warm winter items as well," said Betty Jackson of Woven and Friends, Inc. "Whoever needs a hot meal, warm winter items or just friendly faces this holiday are welcome to stop by and grab a plate." Businesses or community members are welcome to sponsor food, supplies, or financing to help make this event possible.
