The theme for Black History Month 2024, "African American in the Arts," invites participants to reflect on the profound impact of African American artists throughout history. The event will feature a range of activities, including a lively discussion on why Black History Month is significant to each attendee, an exploration of inspirational African American artists, and an encouragement to contemplate the lasting mark individuals wish to create in the world.

Maya Angelou's timeless words, "If you're going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can't be erased," will serve as a guiding inspiration for the evening. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations, fostering a sense of unity and inclusivity.

The highlight of the event will be a hands-on painting activity led by local artist Kiaunti Ny'Khol. Attendees will create their own interpretations of the renowned abstract painting, "The Eclipse," by Alma Thomas, paying homage to the extraordinary talent and creativity within the African American artistic community.

"We are excited to bring the community together to celebrate Black History Month in a creative and engaging way. This Sip and Paint Activation aims to honor the incredible contributions of African American artists while encouraging individuals to reflect on their own unique legacies," said Alana Johnson, Marketing and Communications Manager at Marriott Village Orlando.

Marriott Village Orlando invites everyone to join this special celebration of Black History Month, fostering a spirit of unity, appreciation, and creativity within our community.
