Follow on Google News | How Will the Next Generation Face Turbulent Times? KidSpirit Shares Youth Voices on Crisis & ChangeBy: KidSpirit Each issue of KidSpirit revolves around a Big Question posed by the all-youth Editorial Board. This spring, the editors asked whether a crisis causes change or change causes crisis. A young writer from Pakistan investigates whether the relationship is symbiotic. Other pieces released today include an article on how unity can turn chaos into progress, a contributor's exploration of how her Ukrainian culture navigates change, a piece about the importance of friendship after a difficult move, and an essay about the impact of an experience at math camp. Also just published are a review of Ruta Sepetys' novel I Must Betray You, and a short story about spring, the season of rebirth. Throughout the season, KidSpirit will continue to publish writing, poetry, artwork, and video by youth on this powerful theme. In Features, writers from Pakistan, Jordan, New York, Texas, and Ukraine come together to examine the crises facing teens around the world. An Awesome Moments piece will delve into the impact of a community vigil, while the Interfaith Connections department will feature the perspective of a young contributor from Spain. In Media, young authors will review the movie Avatar: The Way of Water and the novel Ground Zero. The Fiction and Poetry departments will showcase more creative writing on the topic from lyrical young authors around the world. Each issue of KidSpirit features additional wisdom from one adult with expertise in the theme in a column called PerSpectives. This season, we are thrilled to feature a video interview with Joel Sartore, creator of the Photo Ark, and an award-winning National Geographic photographer, speaker, author, and conservationist. The video interview will be conducted by a KidSpirit contributor from Haiti, and will touch on topics spanning from youth-led climate activism to biodiversity and ecological stewardship. KidSpirit is a unique forum for young people of all backgrounds and traditions to explore life's big questions in an open spirit.
