Axis Systems Enhances Security and Communications at Public Transportation Station

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Aug. 30, 2024 - PRLog -- Axis Systems Group is excited to announce the successful completion of the installation and integration of cutting-edge security and public address systems at the new Capstan SkyTrain station on the Canada Line in Metro Vancouver. As the first infill station on the line, Capstan Station in Richmond, BC, represents a significant expansion of the SkyTrain network and required a comprehensive suite of advanced systems to ensure safety and efficient operation.

Project Overview

Initiated on Canada Day 2023, the Axis Systems Group project encompassed a variety of essential systems, all delivered within a tight six-month timeline. The project included the installation of:

- Public Address System
- CCTV Surveillance System
- Emergency Intercom System
- Access Control System
- Pedestrian Counting System (Dilax)
- Public Address System

The state-of-the-art Public Address (PA) system at Capstan Station features a DSP processor integrated amplifier system by R2P, complemented by ambient noise-sensing microphones on the platform. The system is centrally controlled by the OMC1 – Operations, Maintenance, and Command Centre, located in New Westminster, ensuring clear and effective communication throughout the station.

CCTV Surveillance System

To enhance station security, Axis Systems Group has installed a robust CCTV Surveillance System featuring over 30 Avigilon megapixel IP cameras. This system includes fixed camera enclosures by Indigo Vision and PTZ cameras by Avigilon, strategically placed to monitor and secure key areas, including mechanical, maintenance, and storage zones.

Emergency Intercom System

The Emergency Intercom System includes strategically located kiosks across the platform and station. These intercoms provide a critical communication link for passengers in need of assistance or in emergency situations, facilitating a swift and efficient response from station staff.

Access Control System

Axis Systems Group has implemented an advanced Access Control System to ensure secure entry and restricted access to sensitive areas of the station. This system plays a vital role in maintaining safety and operational efficiency, managing the flow of individuals, and minimizing potential risks.
