WW1 Veterans Versus The Purple Gang in New 1920's Bootlegger Film

LANSING, Mich. - Sept. 26, 2024 - PRLog -- Taking true events from Michigan's history author Karl Manke penned a great story of a small band of rugged individuals brave enough to try and bootleg on Purple Gang territory during the roaring 20's. This powerful story caught the attention of filmmaker DJ Perry, CEO of the Lansing, MI based Collective Development Inc. (CDI). CDI has been producing movies since the late 90's and this newest one will soon have the first premiere in Northern Michigan.

DJ Perry who wrote the screenplay adaptation credits the rich characters created by book author Karl Manke. After the screenplay was completed Perry supervised a team of artists who successfully re-created Michigan in the 1920's complete with cars, boats, planes and buildings all over 100 years old. The film was directed by a longtime collaborator of Perry's mister Carl Weyant, formerly from NYC and now living in Michigan.

The cast and crew mostly from Michigan filmed in Alpena with some additional filming on Harsens Island itself. Alpena had many of the old period buildings and lodges required whereas Harsens Island has modernized and lost several classic structures to fire. The water channels and coastlines of the two locations fit together quite seamlessly due to movie magic.

The first premiere for the cast, crew and sponsors will be this November in Alpena, Michigan. After the first of the new year a series of premiere showings are being planned to kick off the launch of the film into various theatrical regions being booked by Dreamscape Productions.
