Lean In Latinas Launches Latina Pay Equity Training Based on 2024 Lean In Report

Latinas lose the most ground across the corporate pipeline. Lean In Latinas is taking action to close the Latina Pay Equity Gap by training speakers to advocate for change.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Dec. 2, 2024 - PRLog -- Lean In Latinas has introduced the Latina Pay Equity Training program to tackle the wage gap disproportionately affecting Latinas in corporate America. This initiative was developed in response to the 2024 State of Latinas in Corporate America report by LeanIn.org. The training equips participants to deliver impactful presentations that educate organizations on understanding and addressing pay inequities and advocating for meaningful change.

Eighteen Lean In Latinas members underwent rigorous training led by the organization's leadership and will receive ongoing support to ensure the success of their presentations.

Anna Dapelo-Garcia, founder and CEO of Lean In Latinas, emphasized the program's importance: "Our mission is to empower Latinas to close the wage gap by providing awareness, education, training, and mentorship. This training is one of the many ways we are working toward that goal."

Key Insights from the Latina Pay Equity Training

The training focuses on the systemic and cultural factors contributing to the pay gap, which include:
  • Underrepresentation: Latinas make up only 1% of the C-suite and experience the lowest promotion rates among all demographics.
  • Earnings Disparity: The wage gap results in an average lifetime earnings loss of $1.2 million per Latina.
  • Systemic Barriers: Challenges such as lack of sponsorship, family obligations, and the pressures of being "the only" Latina in professional spaces compound inequities.
  • Cultural and Workplace Pressures: Microaggressions, colorism, and the expectation to conform to workplace norms further hinder career advancement.

In addition to unpacking these issues, the training provides participants with best practices and materials for creating dynamic, data-driven presentations that resonate with audiences and inspire change.

Call to Action

Lean In Latinas invites organizations, corporate leaders, and allies to collaborate in promoting Latina pay equity. Addressing this gap not only creates equitable workplaces but also unlocks the potential of one of the most driven and underrepresented demographics in corporate America.
