ATLANTA - March 5, 2025 - PRLog -- On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the state of Georgia celebrated its 2025 Firefighter Recognition Day, a significant event that brought together state leaders, first responders, and industry experts to honor and network within the fire service community. The day was a fitting tribute to the hard work and unwavering commitment of Georgia's firefighters and emergency personnel.

The day's events began at the Georgia State Capitol, where lawmakers gathered to express their appreciation for the dedicated fire service personnel across the state. Commendations were presented to award recipients from the Georgia State Firefighters Association (GSFA), the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs (GAFC), Georgia Fire Inspectors Association (GAFIRE), and the Georgia Fire Investigators Association (GFIA).

This ceremony highlighted the ongoing contributions of Georgia's firefighters, recognizing their vital role in ensuring the safety of their communities.

Chief Terry Smith, Camden County Fire Rescue and President of GAFC, shared, "2025 Firefighter Recognition Day was a standout event! We were privileged to have representatives from the Governor's and Lieutenant Governor's Offices, First Lady of Georgia Marty Kemp, Speaker of the House Jon Burns, Senator John Albers, State Representative Lauren W. McDonald, and Insurance & Safety Fire Commissioner John King join us. Their support highlights the vital role of our firefighters statewide."
Chief Mike Byrd, Fire Chief of Spalding County and President of GSFA, remarked, "This year's Firefighter Appreciation Day was a milestone. Legislators went above and beyond in recognizing the Georgia Fire Service, with both the Senate and House welcoming us on the floor. We look forward to growing this event next year to make an even greater impact on fire-related legislation."
Later that evening, over 200 fire service members and state legislators convened at the Georgia Freight Depot for a memorable barbecue dinner, graciously prepared by the Vienna Fire Department. Following the dinner, the Awards Ceremony took place, where the top fire service achievements of the year were celebrated and honored.
