Follow on Google News | Better Together receives $125,000 donation from Bank of Central Florida to support Tampa familiesBy: Better Together "At Bank of Central Florida, we believe in giving back and investing in the communities we serve – it's at the heart of who we are as a community bank," said David K. Moore, president of Bank of Central Florida. "We deeply appreciate the work Better Together does to empower families and provide meaningful job opportunities. Their focus on preventing challenges before they happen and offering a hand up to those who need it aligns with our core value to show care and support for the people and businesses in our community." Better Together is a volunteer-driven, privately funded nonprofit that prevents the need for foster care by building strong families and communities. When a parent needs support – due to homelessness, a medical emergency, or other crisis – Better Together volunteer host families provide a safe, loving home for the children short term, while staff and mentors empower the parents to secure employment, housing and other needs. Because job loss is at the root of most family crises, the Better Together workforce program provides opportunities for all job seekers through relational job fairs and volunteer job coaches. To date, Better Together has served more than 10,000 children, and 98% of children served through mentoring and hosting remain out of foster care. The nonprofit has also connected 40,000 job seekers to employment opportunities through church-based job fairs across 24 states. Established in Southwest Florida in 2015, the nonprofit's programming has rapidly expanded to reach families in six regions of Florida that span 48 counties.
