Telesoft Technologies Products to Drive Skyrocketing Location-Based Services Market

Dec. 2, 2008 - PRLog -- Telesoft Technologies today announced the HINTON Locator passive monitoring probe, to address the fast growing location-based services and subscriber tracking applications markets. Connecting to any mobile network, it gives OEMs and System Integrators the location-related signalling information that enables them to provide subscribers with sophisticated, geographically targeted applications. Typical applications include location-based advertising, E911 services, info-point services and navigation aids.

Connecting to the cellular radio access network the HINTON Locator outputs location data to pinpoint a subscribers’ position. Location accuracy varies depending on the density of base-stations and interference from tall buildings and other objects. Typical results, in an urban area, derive location data to 100-500M via triangulation of data from multiple base-stations. This network-based methodology avoids the need for any special handset capability, allowing location-based services to be offered to all subscribers, even those with the most basic mobile handsets.

The highly flexible location API can filter by location area, cell ID, subscriber mobile number etc allowing accurate targeting of subscribers for the extraction of all location related signalling information used during network operation.

The functionality of the HINTON Locator is also being made available within the HINTON Interceptor product, used in homeland security and intelligence applications for signals intelligence gathering.
