Installation Artist Jane Castillo to Show Work at Sausalito Headlands Center for the Arts


Sausalito, CA--Well known installation artist and children’s book author Jane Castillo has now begun a one month residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito after receiving  one of six 2009 Visions from the New California awards from the Alliance of Artists Communities.  The Alliance is funded by the James Irvine Foundation as part of an on-going effort in the state to support highly talented, yet under-recognized, California visual artists who represent the new California demographic.

   During her one month artist-in-residency Castillo will have the opportunity to create new work, and will have two exhibits at the Headlands Center.  She will also be showing her work at an open house at the Center April 19th. In addition she will have her work featured in a widely distributed publication documenting her residency experiences at the host program.

   Castillo also recently released the first of seven new children’s book on art, called Line: Seven Elements of Art.  She is currently finishing the second book in the series which will be out later this year.

   The James Irvine Foundation is a private, nonprofit grant making foundation dedicated to expanding opportunities for the people of California to participate in a vibrant, inclusive, and successful society.
