(April 120, 2016), Huntington Beach, CA- Off the Streets- Huntington Beach, the local nonprofit dedicated to helping the homeless secure permanent housing, has now placed over 200 people in permanent housing since it began in 2014.

"This is a landmark event for us.  We started out with a vision to help people get off the streets and into housing, and now, through the outstanding work of our volunteers and donors, we have more than 200 people in the area that are in homes or apartments and no longer living on the streets or in motels," said Larry Burns, President of Off the Street/ Huntington Beach. "What is even more exciting is that 96% of the people we help are stable and still able to maintain their permanent housing after more than six months."

"We are gaining momentum in our efforts to help those less fortunate in our community.  It took about 15 months for us to help the first 100 people secure housing, and less than nine months to help the next 100 people.  We owe all of this progress to the wonderful volunteers and donors and the growing support of the community at large," said Burns.

The nonprofit organization is completely staffed by volunteers, and 95% of all donations go directly to funding the security deposits and other essentials for those that Off the Streets is helping.

Off the Streets has helped families, single mothers with children and both single women and single men to secure permanent housing.  The organization reached the 200 number when it helped a local Huntington Beach couple complete the application process and move out of a motel they were living in and into permanent housing.

Off the Streets Huntington Beach (www.offthestreetsnow.com/hb)  was established in June 2014 as a 501 c(3) nonprofit charity to help qualified homeless people secure permanent housing by working with them to establish budgets, find housing that fits their budget and then pays the security deposit to the landlord on behalf of those that the organization is helping.  Off the Streets will also help furnish the new housing with furniture based on the needs of those being helped and the furniture available at the time.
