Immigration Attorney Chris Gafner Co-Authors Article on Immigration Parole

March 3, 2010 - PRLog -- New York City immigration lawyer Chris Gafner has co-authored the article "Immigration Parole: Recent Developments" that was recently published in Bender's Immigration Bulletin.  The article was written for immigration practitioners and examines recent developments concerning immigration parole and its use by certain immigrants entering the United States.

Immigration parole is not explicitly authorized within the immigration statute. Nevertheless, the concept has evolved over the years and allows government officials to authorize foreign nationals to enter the country.  Although parole does not give residential status to a qualifying foreign national, it does allow a foreign national to enter the United States without violating the law.  The article examined a recently released Department of Homeland Security Memorandum that further defined immigration parole, the parole options available to persons with a credible fear of persecution or torture, and the new immigration parole procedures for foreign nationals from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
