Follow on Google News | The Harbour Bar Irish Music Night raises huge amount for the Andrew Grene FoundationMalachy Mc Dwyer and his staff created a feast fit for kings, on Friday March 19th at The Harbour Bar in Belturbet, all in aid of the Andrew Grene Foundation.
Entertainment was courtesy of Ted Sweeney and friends, who’s traditional Irish music was so loved by Andrew, being a fantastic musician himself. An auction of items donated by local businesses took place, amongst the items being celtic artwork by Sean Cassidy. There was also a raffle, and along with takings on the door and individual donations, the night raised a staggering 13,000 euros for the Foundation. Malachy’s aim for the evening was clear. “It it our way of celebrating his life. The Haitian people were very close to his heart. The funds raised will go to educating children there and he would have wanted that.” Particular thanks goes to Malachy Mc Dwyer who so generously donated his time to organise the event, along with Maureen and Aodhagan Fitzpatrick who’s perfect venue was offered free of charge. # # # The Andrew Grene Foundation is a charity dedicated to providing aid direct to the people of Haiti. Funds are allocated to the education of Haitian children and to the microfinancing of small-scale Haitian businesses. End
