New Hampshire Roller Derby becomes a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association

On June 17th, 2010, after three years of sweat, bruises, and rink rash on the part of dedicated league members, New Hampshire Roller Derby was officially inducted as a full member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).

June 21, 2010 - PRLog -- The WFTDA is the primary governing and sanctioning body of modern roller derby, akin to the MLB or NBA for baseball or basketball. Of the more than 450 recognized roller derby leagues across the globe, only 89 are WFTDA members, although most non-member leagues play by the WFTDA rule set. For more detailed information  on WFTDA, please visit their website at www.wftda.com.
The league spent 10 months in the WFDTA Apprentice Program, paired with a mentor league, to prepare them to meet the standards and requirements of full membership. WFTDA leagues are divided into four regions and are eligible for national ranking and participation in the National Championships.
The members of NHRD are extremely proud of this accomplishment and now join the company of New England’s three other WFTDA member-leagues: The Boston Derby Dames, Maine Roller Derby, and Providence Roller Derby.
What better way to celebrate the league’s achievement than by showing your support at their next home bout! The Queen City Cherry Bombs are set to play their second home bout against ROC City Roller Derby of Rochester, NY on June 26th, 6pm at the JFK Coliseum in Manchester, NH.
Tickets are $8 in advance via the NHRD website (nhrollerderby.com), or $10 at the door. Children 10 and under are free. Doors open at 5pm and derby begins at 6pm. Concessions are available and the beer garden is open to fans 21 and over. Parking is free at JFK Coliseum on 303 Beech St. Fans should use the main Maple Street entrance.
