July 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Shelly Zimmerman is the designer of the MyColourCup®, which has made it into the product innovation category finals for the Connect2mums AusMumpreneur Awards, being held in Southbank, Brisbane on Saturday 31 July.  She is a mother of four children and wife of 24 years, Twist-id Products business owner, and a full-time TASC employee.  Shelly is an American expatriate and has been living and working in Australia since1993. She invented this product at home in her spare time with the help of her supporting family and now holds an Australian patent on the design of the cup and trademark on the name.

When asked why she started this business Shelly Zimmerman is quoted as saying; " I didn't set out to start a company, I set out to fix my family.  Okay maybe that's a bit harsh; I set out to train my family on how to reuse the cups they already were using.  After several ineffective behavioral schemes and unsuccessful internet searches I broke down and designed what was not available and ended up with the MyColourCup®.  Yeah, now I definitely know which cup is mine!"

What is a Mumpreneur? – well it’s a mum who wants to be able to fulfill her potential as an entrepreneur as well and it seems the trend is on the rise with this industry being the fastest growing of all in Australia in 2010!

The AusMumpreneur Awards take place at a glamorous Awards dinner at Rydges, Southbank, Brisbane on Saturday 31 July. These awards are the only events of their kind in Australia and will be officially opened by Hon Karen Struthers MP the Minister for Women.
