Chipotle Pickle-In-A-Pouch ~ Van Holten's new flavor

Sept. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Waterloo, WI - Beginning November 1st, 2010 Van Holten’s will begin shipping their #6 Jumbo Chipotle pickle-in-a-pouch to wholesalers and retailers nationwide. Like all of Van Holten’s pickles the chipotle flavor will be packaged individually in a stand up pouch and have a two year shelf life, with no refrigeration required.

The new flavor combines the bold spice and smokiness of chipotle peppers into a pickle. “The popularity of chipotle flavored snacks and bold flavor profiles in general made it the ideal flavor for our latest Pickle-In-A-Pouch” said company president, Steve Byrnes, “additionally; our new impulse oriented packaging design will make chipotle and all our other flavors pop off the shelf.”

Van Holten’s will offer three sizes of grab and go chipotle pickles in their core brand packaging; the #4 Large, #6 Jumbo and #9 Super Jumbo. The #4 Large and #9 Super Jumbo will be available on January 3, 2011.

Van Holten’s has been in business since 1898 and pouched its first pickle in 1939. The company has two fully automated production lines at its state of the art facility in Waterloo, WI. Van Holten’s specializes in pouched snacks and introduced Big “O” pouched snack olives in 2008.

“We have experienced tremendous growth in the past five years,” said Byrnes, “we have maintained great distribution in the convenience store channel while expanding into grocery deli, movie theatres, schools, and specialty markets.”

Van Holten’s offers pouched pickles in four sizes and six flavors; dill, hot, kosher, sour, Sweet, and now Chipotle. Their Big “O” Olives are available in plain and spicy flavors. Both products are shipped in easy-to-merchandise tear away cases that hold 12 pouches of pickles or 18 pouches of olives. Van Holten’s products do not require refrigeration. Pickles have a 2 year shelf life, and olives have a 1 year shelf life.
