Oct. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Cyprus has many eateries and most of them are run of the mill so we won’t be talking about those. We will list some unique restaurants that will touch your taste buds and show the awesome traditions of Cyprus food. I will start with my favourite Vic Lara, firstly you need to find it and as they are not big on advertising, this in itself is part of the adventure, you start with a short drive into the Akamas nature reserve, once you cross the first small bridge at the bottom of a ravine take a right turn up a rocky dirt road to what looks like an overgrown grape vine from the bottom of the hill. Once you find it and are seated at your table, which is made from large slabs of natural rock that resembles something out of the Flintstones and the rickety chairs that you will be sitting on you will be amazed at the stunning views of the majestic Mediterranean ocean and the natural beauty of the nature reserve. So let’s start with the menu, well there isn’t one your choice of your meal is simple you can order two pieces of succulent pork that is barbequed to perfection, with chips or a baked potato in saying this, the chips are the size of a potato so it’s the same all round, or you can have two pieces of chicken instead but if you are feeling a bit adventuress you can have one pork and one chicken, your meal will come with local bread and a traditional salad, your choice of wine is red wine or white wine a few soft drinks and two types of local beer, the fun part of this restaurant is that there is not a super large menu and you don’t have to put much thought into your meal choice. Vic Lara restaurant is only open in the summer season and in the day times, but you will have to book as they are always jam packed their number for bookings is 99516324 when in Cyprus. Who would have thought that a restaurant in the hills with no main road but a dirt track to get there stone tables and rickety chairs and no menu would be such a success, but it boils down to this, the food it great, the views are fantastic and it’s as traditional as you can get.

My second choice is Fat Mammas in Paphos, not so much traditional as it is different and fun. There are two menus for you to peruse and you will be stuck for ages trying to make up your mind. After my experience there and a meat lover I just go straight for the ribs, soft, tender and the meat just falls off the bone, but be warned all their portions are super large. The thing that makes this restaurant different is the staff will put on a well choreographed show with dancing, costumes, music and singing. There is always the odd person who will get embarrassed when the staff sing happy birthday to them and the bridal parties that will get a shout out from the whole restaurant, but this is the fun part. So if you are thinking of Cyprus for your next holiday and would like to find that perfect holiday rental please visit http://www.myholidayrental.com. Fat Mammas can be found in Paphos at 47, Tombs of the Kings Ave. Kato Paphos – Cyprus, and they have their own website which you find on the net.

You wouldn’t imagine it but the owners of Brasileiro, in Kato Paphos are from Germany and Bavaria. This quality South American specifically Brazilian steakhouse with a pre-fixed menu that includes dishes like Feijoada, the Brazilian national Dish is one not to miss
Not surprisingly quantities of meat are the norm. They offer an a la carte menu but the majority of clients choose to have the meat and fish carvery. As will be explained, each seat has a stop / go beer mat. Green for I’m still hungry and red for I’m having a break.
The waiters will circulate the restaurant with meat skewers hot of the BBQ and Keep your plate furnished with another tasty piece or three. As I am sure you will have experienced before it is best to take it slow and rest in between the food and excellent selection of wines. It is common for people to leave having had to refuse some of the courses complaining of having eaten too much. Make sure to leave enough room to try the BBQ pineapple. If you fail to resist and have to refuse the dessert at least you will have tried 2 or 3 Caiprihinas to quench your thirst, You will find Brasieiro at, Posidonos 18, Paphos, 8042  Tel. 00357 26818244

The Sienna Restaurant is situated in a unique location overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean Sea On the parade of shops beside the Azia 5* hotel on the main road from Paphos to Coral Bay and offers a warm welcome, a relaxing atmosphere, traditional Cyprus and International cuisine. The master chef, Peter is highly qualified Chef who studied in Westminster Catering College of London. He also trained in the a la carte restaurant of Harrods in London, and maintains a spotless kitchen. He prides himself on using only the freshest of foods and adds extra special flavours to his dishes with fragrant herbs freshly gathered from the restaurant's own herb garden. To add to this they are highly decorative as well and more importantly the taste and experience of the dishes will make the whole experience memorable. You will find Sienna at Chlorakas Avenue, Panareti 3 Court, Papho 8061 Tel. 00357 26931505
