Dec. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Graham, 60, who was Street Scene Manager at the authority in Clitheroe until September, is now Improvement and Development Manager at Lancashire-based events management company, Pennine Events – one of the country’s leading organisers of cycling events.
Graham will focus on helping the company improve the way it delivers services to existing clients, many of whom are councils, charities and health authorities, and help it to win new clients.
Pennine Events specialises in organising sports, leisure, and health events, across the country, including some of the most high profile cycling events in the UK, including this year’s  National Road Race Championships.
Graham said: “After a total of 38 years’ service in Local Government, I wanted to retire from Local Government, particularly with the anticipated cuts in Government funding. However, I wasn’t ready to retire from work.
“I have worked with Pennine Events over the last 6 years in my previous role and know the team well.
“I am confident that my experience in Local Government can help the company in a number of ways, particularly as many of Pennine Events’ clients are in the public sector.
“Even my role as a local magistrate should help the company in terms of navigating the challenges of various pieces of legislation, particularly in health and safety – a major issue when organising almost any event these days.”
Mark Sandamas, Director of Pennine Events, said: “Graham will look at a whole range of issues to help us take the business forward in the future. This will include how we can constantly improve our services, our internal systems and processes, including staff development, and how we can win bigger-sized contracts in the future.”
Just under twelve months ago, Pennine Events took on Martin Kersey – another former Ribble Valley Borough Council employee - as an events manager.
