DEAD MAN TALKING By Julian Simpson
The team are asked to reopen a case when the victim's daughter comes to them with new evidence - from a psychic. Clearly sceptical they start digging and discover that the victim, Douglas Anderson wasn't as squeaky clean as he might have appeared. Although he took over the care of his best friend and business partner's daughter, it would appear that he also duped his friend John Plummer out of money owed from a fraudulent scheme and allowed his friend to take the rap for the scam (Plummer subsequently died in prison). However when the team meet Plummer's former cellmate, they realise something is wrong and work out that not only did he kill Anderson but he is in fact Plummer himself who had used the psychic’s relationship with his estranged daughter to try and uncover the whereabouts of the money.

IT SMELLS OF BOOKS by J.C.Wilsher
There’s a bunch of cases that never seem to come to the top of the pile, and Strickland has told Pullman he’d like to see them progressed.  Pullman looks through the list – they’re all cases which UCOS has given the once over, and put back on the shelf because other inquiries seemed more promising.  They still do.

LEFT FIELD By Lisa Holdsworth
When the team are approached by a known paedophile who confesses to the abduction and murder of a 5 year old boy 26 years ago, they find themselves in the unusual position of having to prove he didn't do it. The boy's parents have since split up and have followed very different paths, while she is a human rights advocate he has become a staunch advocate of men's rights. The team wonder whether they have been covering for one another. However there is another suspect - a former friend of the couple's whose story of her son's adoption doesn't quite ring true . When the team discover that Fred was not Yassar's biological father this puts two other people in the frame, Fred himself and Yassar's real dad. With some digging they discover that Yassar is still alive. He was taken out of the country with Fred's help and brought up in the Middle East.

DARK CHOCOLATE by Roy Mitchell
Strickland presents Pullman with a delicate new case. In a present-day rape in North London, the attacker’s DNA has been linked to 2 rapes from the late 1990’s – both in the Pyramid Chocolate Factory in West London. Pullman & her team are to re-examine the old unsolved case. The present day victim, Helen Vestry was working in a bakery when she was attacked.

GOOD MORNING LEMMINGS by Matthew Thomas
When graffiti starts appearing at numerous high profile locations across the capital declaring ‘I Killed Flak’ the UCOS team is told to reopen the investigation into the unsolved murder of twenty-five year old Danny Tyler aka Flak, a prolific graffiti artist. His corpse was found four years ago dumped beside some rail tracks. Flak’s ‘street art’ is now sold for big bucks through uber-trendy galleries. His most famous piece of graffiti was on the pillars of a west London underpass, the words Good on the first pillar, then Morning on the second pillar then Lemmings on the last pillar greeted thousands of commuters daily.

FASHION VICTIM By Nick Hopkins
80's fashion designer Richard Levene's retrospective of his work reignites the mystery of his stabbing during a party 8 years ago. The suspects are his geeky intern, his ex-wife, his new model wife, his business-partner brother and his best mate. There's also the wife's ex-boyfriend Tyler who has disappeared without a trace. All signs point to Ritchie's brother as the culprit. Meanwhile, having found Tyler, it would appear that he too had plenty of reason for wanting to get rid of Ritchie as he was still in love with his former girlfriend, Ritchie's wife. However thanks to Ritchie's obsessive PA the team are directed towards an illegal investment scheme cooked up by Ritchie's best friend Colin Beck. Ritchie's brother Adrian tells them that Ritchie was about to blow the whole thing which is clearly why Colin took decisive action and killed him.

WHERE THERE’S SMOKE By Ollie Brown
When a woman on remand, Dawn Abbott, brings information to UCOS about an apparently accidental fire 14 years ago, her motivation doesn't appear to be entirely honourable. Her tip off sends the team into the world of drug dealers as well as the fascinating world of fire investigation. It would appear that Danny Johnson may have had something to gain by killing his brother and king pin, Mark in the fire, but then again so did a victim of Mark's ire, former gang-member Stuart Russell and his partner in crime David Swallow. Their reopening of the case lands the team in a couple of incendiary situations in which Gerry finds himself the unlikely hero as well as opening their eyes to the mercurial world of fire investigation through retired investigator George Mackie himself. Ultimately they uncover Dawn's true motivation for pointing the finger at the Johnson's and begin to suspect that the fire was the work of a serial arsonist. None other than George Mackie.

COMING OUT BALL By Lisa Holdsworth
Pullman and Strickland are called to an Irish pub for a meeting with Fintan Macentee, a former Irish dissident who has now sworn off violence in favour of the democratic process. However, in the bad old days of the troubles, Fintan was the leader of the Republican Front group who were involved in a couple of low-level terrorist acts during the Eighties. Post the Good Friday Treaty, Fintan has been working for one of the ‘truth and reconciliation’ campaigns that are trying to heal the wounds of sectarian violence in an attempt to reinvent himself as a politician.

GLOVES OFF By Roy Mitchell
The deceased is boxer, Eddie Mayfair who was killed a week after a key fight in which his opponent was seriously injured. All fingers pointed to the loser of the fight, Milton Joseph and his gang as the murderer but as the team delve deeper into Billy's life, they discover the talented boxer was being manipulated and used by those closest to him, namely his manager Harry Gallo and best friend Danny Branston who were both involved in his demise.

THE FOURTH MAN By Julian Simpson
An old adversary of the team brings them fresh information on a 30 year old bank job that threatens to bring about the end of UCOS altogether. Former DCS Frank Patterson says a car coming up for auction was used in an unsolved bank robbery that ended in the violent deaths of three of the suspected robbers. The fourth man, Michael Denby hasn't been seen since so what looks like a wild goose chase soon reveals itself to be something much more delicate. The object of Patterson's obsession is not just Denby but also a copper who may have colluded with Denby but is now an extremely high ranking officer, DAC John Felsham. By finding Denby they hope to nail Felsham but their investigation leads them to dead ends and less than truthful witnesses. Felsham himself further derails the investigation when he calls for UCOS to be disbanded and the lads are sent home. However the investigation continues and Denby is traced to an old people's home where he is found to be suffereing from advanced Alzheimers but all is not lost when Denby's alias leads the team right back to Felsham.
