March 22, 2011 - PRLog -- During my life of nineteen years I suffered due to an illness I had when I was eighteen months old and some very bad experiences I had in the state of Florida that are difficult for me to talk about even today. I have faced many challenges that most young people do not have to face, but I now realize and appreciate the lessons I have learned as result of my experiences.

I am now nineteen years old and am enrolled in my first semester at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. I made it into college despite the numerous roadblocks and setbacks I faced. My major is Criminal Justice and my minor is Catholic Studies, and I look forward to moving forward with my life in a positive way.

Joe Simon was and still is a good friend of my parents. I first met Joe Simon when I was only four years old, and at that young age I didn't understand or get into Joe Simon's life that much. But after listening to my parent's play his music and talk positive about him, I began to take a personal interest in him. When I got older, I searched for Joe Simon on the Internet and I would listen to his music. One day, I read on the Internet  "Joe Simon Now Bishop Joe Simon..." I said, "WOW."

As I got older I wanted to be a more dedicated Christian and I knew if I could talk and communicate with this man, Joe Simon, former Rhythm and Blues singer and Grammy award winner who gave up $8.8 Million and the world to follow Jesus Christ, I knew that I would be a better Christian working for the Kingdom of God.

Recently, I had the privilege to interview Bishop Joe Simon. After the interview we sat down and talked about my life and what I needed to do to become a good Christian, and praise the Lord, my first Communion and Confirmation will be on May 1, 2011 at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.

I owe so much to God for blessing me, watching over me and keeping me, and especially for allowing me to live so that I can please him with the lessons he has taught me. I am grateful to be alive, thank you Lord.
