Follow on Google News | United Studios of Self Defense Helps Bring First Shaolin Summit to Los Angeles May 21United Studios of Self Defense (USSD), with martial arts locations throughout Southern California, was instrumental in organizing the first Shaolin Summit in Los Angeles, taking place Saturday, May 21 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
By: USSD The Summit will feature Shaolin warrior monks, Kung Fu demonstrations, Shaolin techniques and training tips and a talk from Shaolin Temple Abbot, Shi Yongxin, who is traveling to the event from China. "The Summit is an opportunity for students of Shaolin martial arts to immerse themselves in the Shaolin culture and learn from the masters," says Charles Mattera, a 10th degree Black Belt in Shaolin Kempo-style karate and USSD founder. "USSD's close relationship with the Shaolin Temple enables us to continually incorporate its wisdom and philosophies into what we teach our students each and every day." USSD students and teachers will be traveling to China and the Shaolin Temple in June. "These next two months will be a very exciting time for those serious about practicing Shaolin karate," says Mattera. The Shaolin Summit is presented by the Shaolin Association of North America (SANA), established this year to bring Shaolin cultural and educational events to the U.S. and Canada. USSD is a founding member. "Those who attend the summit will have a better understanding of the unique Shaolin martial arts philosophy and how it was created as well as receive good tips on overall wellness and vitality," says Peter Shiao, SANA president. "We are very pleased to be working with USSD. USSD is a long time valued partner of Shaolin. It is always giving and never asks for anything in return. We are proud of our association with USSD and being able to work side by side with Professor Mattera and his team." For more information about USSD, go to http://www.ussd.com.
