Oct. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Nonprofit has chance to receive funding to provide educational support for girls in Sierra Leone via innovative online marketplace for philanthropy.

Johnson City, Tennessee – Develop Africa, Inc. joined GlobalGiving’s Girl Effect Challenge, a fundraising challenge for non-profits who are doing work around the world.

Girl Effect participants will raise funds through Globalgiving during the month of October. The projects that raise the most amount of money will gain access to innovative web 2.0 fundraising tools and connect to a broad network of thousands of donors and corporate and foundation partners already engaged in the GlobalGiving network.

Develop Africa is providing girls with enhanced educational opportunities through a networked, multimedia computer lab.  The access to training and educational software is elevating the quality of the education given to the girls, helping to prepare them for success in our digital age.  This will help them break the cycle of poverty in one of the world’s most impoverished countries, Sierra Leone.  These resources will empower and enable them to create a safe and secure future for themselves, their families and their communities.

A quality education is instrumental in the development of a young girl's values and virtues. It cultivates children into mature individuals, individuals capable of planning for their futures and making the right decisions. Educated women tend to be healthier, earn more income and have fewer healthier children.  Educated women will improve the well-being of all individuals and lift households out of poverty.  You can help Develop Africa further this cycle by donating today.

To help Develop Africa increase its impact through the Girl Effect Challenge, simply go to  http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/enhance-education-of...  (or http://www.globalgiving.org, search for “Empower Girls, Provide Computer Training”), and make your donation between October 15 and November 15.  Just $10 will provide a computer mouse, $25 will provide a computer training manual for 5 girls, and $48 will cover instruction and generator fuel for 1 day.    Your support in any amount will give girls the tools they need to live healthy, successful lives and break the cycle of poverty in Sierra Leone.
