Follow on Google News | Ayrsley Donates Over 1,100 Toys to Toys for TotsThe second annual drive held by the mixed use community in Southwest Charlotte resulted in 1,168 Toys being donated this year. Despite the difficult economic times, over 2,000 toys have been donated in the last two years.
By: Chris Stulginsky When volunteers finished counting, they hoped that the large door on the 16 foot U-Haul truck would close. After some maneuvering of 1,168 toys, including bikes, skateboards, sports equipments, dolls and various other toys piled high inside, the door of the truck was sealed and the toys of Ayrsley’ “We had donations from all over Ayrsley. Workers, residents, visitors and businesses all came together and put forth a great effort,” said area coordinator Christopher Stulginsky who owns of Ayrsley Town Rehabilitation. Corporate pledges were made by community businesses in Ayrsley and by those who have a connection to Ayrsley. The pledges added up to over $1,500 and some business offered discounts in exchange for toy donations. Residents of Ayrsley were equally generous in their donations. Residents of Colonial Grand Apartments, Calloway/D.R. Horton, Faison, Lennar, and Ryan Town Homes filled boxes at neighborhood drop locations. “We could not have done this without the support of business owners, managers and residents who have ties to Ayrsley, said Stulginsky. “The most touching donation came from a group who calls Ayrsley home during the work week.” Stulginsky is referring to a group of workers who have extended stays at the new Homewood Suites in Ayrsley. These hotel guests coordinated and collected money and donated 150 toys to the cause. “A wonderful group of people who come from all over the country and consider Ayrsley their home Monday through Friday worked so hard to contribute to the cause for Charlotte area children, it’s touching,” Stulginsky added. In the first two years of the Ayrsley Toys for Tots drive, over 2,000 toys have been donated “This is a testament to our neighborhood and the Ayrsley community. Even in the difficult economic climate we all have faced in the last two years so many have selflessly thought of others and how they can help.” # # # Ayrsley Town Rehabilitation (ATR) is an independent physical therapy clinic which was opened by Christopher Stulginsky and Alex Gomez in October of 2008 in The Town of Ayrsley, a mixed use community in southwest Charlotte.
