Community Leader Accepts Role on Easter Seals Advisory Committee

Feb. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Kids ‘R’ Kids of Liberty Field school director, Liz Matson, has accepted a position on the Community Advisory Board for Easter Seals Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) of Bexar County. Community members like Ms. Matson are invited to the board because they have demonstrated deep passion and outstanding leadership in caring for children with special needs. In addition to her clear passion, Ms. Matson has shown a consistent skill in the development of effective partnerships between ECI Programs, like Easter Seals, and local schools. “I am very humbled that the families I serve at Kids ‘R’ Kids and the community collaborators for Easter Seals ECI see how my vision for partnership and my compassion in leadership has impacted children’s lives,” Ms. Matson says.

Ms. Matson has been serving children at Kids ‘R’ Kids of Liberty Field (http://www.krklibertyfield.com) since 2010, but she’s also been involved with Early Childhood Intervention programming since her son joined one as a preschooler. Since receiving collaborative educational support at a young age, he has gone on to graduate in the top 5% of his class and is now attending college on an academic scholarship for the school of engineering. “I know firsthand how a program such as this can impact development for a child and I am truly honored to be part of an organization that makes a difference,” says Matson.

In her role on the advisory council, Ms. Matson will be collaborating with other community leaders and educators to develop new ideas and work diligently towards the improving education, support and the overall well-being of children with disabilities. She will work strategically to educate the community and help identify underserved subgroups within her catchment area. “I look forward to serving as an advocate for these children,” Matson says, “and to enhancing their growth and development in any way I can.”
