Mexican Folkloric Ballet Performs in Jaipur

Jaipur : The folkloric ballet, from the university of Veracruz, performed with Tien Huicani, a music group to brought a show of traditional folkloric music and dance styles such as Ranchera, Norteno, Jarocho and Mexican tap dance from different parts of Mexico such as Veracruz, Chiapas, Hidalgo, Jalisco. The ballet was organized in Jaipur with the support of Indian Council for Cultural Relations on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur.

The North American country of Mexico stretches between an ocean and a gulf. Spanish control of Mexico led to the dominance of Spanish, the official language. The family is at the centre of the social structure in Mexico. Mexicans emphasize hierarchical relationships. Mexico is known for its folk art traditions, mostly derived from the indigenous and Spanish crafts. Mexico is also known for its pre-Columbian architecture. Mexican society enjoys a vast array of music genres, showing the diversity of Mexican culture. Traditional music includes Mariachi, Banda, Norteño, Ranchera and Corridos. Mexicans also listen to contemporary music such as pop and Mexican rock. Mexico has a long and rich tradition of dance. Like all folk dancing, traditional Mexican dances provide a glimpse into the culture of the region. Now a days, Mexican Folk Dance groups, or grupos folkloricos, perform representative dances from a variety of states and regions of Mexico.

The performances of the group were rich in vibrant colors and exciting dance forms that embrace the beauty of such a diverse country.
