The Business of Going Green

May 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Every year, St. Louis kicks off one of the largest Earth Day celebrations in the country, and some businesses have taken it a little further. The All About Business St. Louis TV show aired a special Earth Day episode at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 22, on KPLR-TV 11, featuring businesses that have gone green and will never go back.

“We all have a responsibility to do everything we can to sustain our environment personally. And business owners are really seeing the benefits of going green,” said Amanda Aschinger, owner and producer of All About Business St. Louis. “Businesses are finding that going green can also have a positive affect on their bottom line.”

Blue Skies Recycling, an organic and single-stream recycling company, sponsored the broadcast. During the episode, business owners discuss making organic recycling a big part of their everyday routine.

Hodak’s Restaurant & Bar is doing its part for a cleaner environment a ton at a time. Owner Charlene Hegel said the company participates in Blue Skies food composting program, which helps divert organic waste from landfills. Hodak’s recycles food waste and single-stream. Single-stream recycling includes glass, cardboard, paper, aluminum, and most plastic materials.
