May 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Jonathon Gomez, driver of the #22 Century Boatland/Living Like a Pirate Chevrolet in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, is hoping for repeat success at the 7/8-mile ultra fast banked oval of Iowa Speedway this weekend.

This Saturday night, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, in its 59th year, returns to Iowa Speedway this Saturday for the Graham Tire "150" which brings together to top drivers from both the East and West divisions of the NKNPS for a special combination event.

Back in 2010, Gomez finished second among his West series peers and eighth overall to equal his best career finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. And while he has been competitive everywhere he has raced, his first win in the series has eluded him. Gomez hopes to change all that this weekend.

"We know the guys in the East are going to be tough," Gomez offered. "Historically the West has not fared as well but I think this year will be different. We have a great car and a really good setup for the race. I can't wait to get there. The track is a blast to drive."

Gomez is coming off a sixth place performance at Stockton (CA) two weeks ago that moved him up to the eighth spot in the point standings just one point out of seventh and 38-points out of fifth place. "A good run at Iowa will do a lot to improve our season," Gomez stated. "We are really focused on being competitive and having top three finishes from here on out. We do that, and the points will take care of themselves."

Gomez has made 31 career starts in the NKNPS after making his series debut at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, OR on July 11, 2008. In his 30 career starts he has five top five and 13 top ten performances. He has a career best finish of second place twice (Iowa & Phoenix).

Gomez Motorsports is owned by John Gomez, a successful farmer and businessman based in Idaho. The team is lead by crew chief Craig Raudman and supported by Ron Copeland, Blaine Bergem, Derek Copeland, Kyle Cattanach, Adam Wyse, and Mike Mulder.
