Follow on Google News | Neversink Reservoir Open to BoatingNew York City DEP opens the Neversink Reservoir to kayaks, canoes and sailboats starting today, May 25 until Columbus Day Weekend.
By: Sullivan County Visitors At an opening ceremony, held at Chandlers Cove, DEP personnel, dignitaries from the County and towns, CWC representatives and residents applauded the new regulations that allow the use of the Neversink Reservoir and the surrounding area for recreational use. Roberta Byron-Lockwood commented, “Sullivan County has looked forward to the opening of the Neversink, a valuable asset to add to our many green, eco-friendly attributes that SCVA promotes to the visitors coming to Sullivan County. It will be an economic boost to the tourism industry and businesses around the reservoir.” Upgraded access points at Chandlers Cove and Kramers Cove located on the western side of the Neversink along Aden Road are shown on a beautiful brochure printed by the Catskill Watershed Corporation. The brochure details the permit requirements, regulations, types of boats permitted, launch sites and boat rental and steam cleaning businesses located near the reservoir.
