June 6, 2012 - PRLog -- He managed to impress Lord Sugar with a business proposal for a new niche-market recruitment company specialising in the science industry.
Martin revealed he was now stepping out of the ring for good in order to focus on his new business career.

We ask, Is it important to have an entrepreneurial background to be successful? is it really possible that an 'average' person can get ahead of all competition and come out on top?!

Ricky entered the apprentice along with 16 other candidates, including many business managers and co-owners, sales managers and even an architect but through sheer determination and a natural ability to manage successful teams and projects he managed beat his opponents - proving that, although important: experience in a corporate industry does not always override a real entrepreneurial passion.

Ricky revealed he would be hanging up his Lycra suit and stepping out of the ring for good, in order to focus on fighting all his battles in the boardroom.

"I've now retired from the wrestling ring. I'm hanging up my boots and my Lycra and that's it now for me," he said.

The final boardroom meeting of the series saw Lord Sugar picking between Ricky Martin and Tom Gearing, before concluding:
"It's a very, very difficult moment for me right now. You're both credible people to invest money in, so is it the devil or is it the safety? And I should keep to my ethos of keeping it simple, keeping it straightforward. So Ricky you're going to be my business partner. Ricky, you're hired."

Ricky Martin's press statement followed : "Lord Sugar and I are going to be a powerful force to reckon with. I can't say I've digested it yet. I'm ecstatic.! Genuine shock, I'm so, so pleased. Tom is incredible at what he does, great competition but I believed in myself, I thought I always I had it in me and I proved it."

Runner-up Tom Gearing added: "If I was going to lose to anyone, I was happy it was Ricky. He was such a strong and credible candidate. We had some amazing experiences, I met some really good people, it was fantastic, and I have no regrets about it at all."

The interviewers included Mike Soutar (a partner of lord sugar) enquiring why he decided to go by the name 'Ricky Martin',? - as his given name is actually Richard Martin
While another partner described Ricky's personal statement as "crass, obnoxious and infantile".
However, of Martin's business plan, "I read your business plan and I was quite impressed. It was interesting, well-written and you've done very well in your career."

Before Lord Sugar made his final decision,He was told: "Ricky has got great credibility in the field!. He's the one that has changed the most over the whole process."

Ricky Martin follows last year's winner Tom Pellereau, who became Lord Sugar's first business partner through the BBC One show.

Concluding the Apprentice 2012 we believe that it has broadcast to the public the relevance of 'a business mind' and how that mindset may overcome the 'business experience'
We live in a world where we constantly are labeling ourselves and each other based on income, education, personality traits, etc.
When it comes to being an entrepreneur in the business industry, that mentality is irrelevant.  By knowing what it does and does not take to make it in any chosen business, you can see how there is no reason why you can’t attack it head-on.

Applying it to SMG Solutions and the direct media marketing industry, we feel anyone can learn and apply the skills to find success. The network marketing industry was designed be applicable, people can do exactly what is needed to achieve their goals.  it’s not an exclusive club meant for those with  vast amounts of degrees or years in the business world.

IT TAKES MASSIVE ACTION
As proved by Ricky Martin, The people who win in  business are the ones who take action, people skills and likability may also be important factors!
if you leave education or have ZERO business experience - like many graduates or career changers. Should any of that matter?  NO. If there is genuine vision, passion, ambition, and most importantly, Realization of what a person is actually capable of, there is no rational explanation as to why a rewarding career cannot be achieved.
