June 12, 2012 - PRLog -- 17-year old Christian High School senior Taylor Miinch returned to championship form winning for the second year in a row this past weekend at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, AZ  in round two of the ASA Truck Series championship. Miinch, the 2011 series champion, qualified second for the sprint race and used a late race pass to score the victory.

Miinch, driving the Upfront Motorsports #12 Chevrolet, started the race from the fourth position and quickly moved to the front of the field where he led the early part of the event. Under green flag action, his transmission started to get hot causing him to lose first gear and unable to shift.

Mid-way through the race, the field received a full course caution and that was the break Miinch needed. The caution allowed his transmission to cool giving him his full compliment of gears allowing Miinch to work his way back through the field.

On the final restart, Miinch was running third and the truck in front of him broke coming to the green stacking up the field. The #88 was leading and used all the racetrack to keep Miinch behind him. While keeping Miinch at bay on the final straight stretch, the #88 of Kai left the left side open heading into the kinked left-hander and that was all Miinch needed.

He threw his truck into the opening and the two made slight contact and Miinch went on to claim his first victory of the season and second in a row at Firebird.

"It was a great weekend for the Upfront Motorsports team," Miinch said. "I was disappointed that we did not get the pole  but the win made up for that. I am so thankful to God for keeping everyone safe and for giving me a talent that I can glorify Him. I can't wait to get to the next race."

Taylor Miinch will be back in action May 27 at The Bullring at Las Vegas (NV) Motor Speedway.

Miinch plans to compete in the remainder of the ASA Truck schedule as well as make select starts in SRL Southwest Tour and NASCAR K&N Pro Series. Follow Taylor all season long on his website http://www.taylormiinch.com or at http://www.racingwest.com.
