June 12, 2012 - PRLog -- The Jack in the Box Summer Shootout offers Legend car racers from across the country and from around the world the opportunity to showcase their talent and skill in front of an enthusiastic audience in the home of NASCAR at Charlotte (NC) Motor Speedway. This season marks the 19th addition of the marquee event and an event that both Kyle and Clayton Weatherman want to win.

The Jack in the Box Summer Shootout begins this evening and will run every Tuesday evening through August 21 when a champion will be crowned for this prestigious ten-race series. New this season, Fox Sports South, the Southeast's premier regional sports network, will televise a weekly 30-minute Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series highlight show.

The Legends Big Money 100 also returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway July 2-3. This event is the largest grassroots race in history will again offer the largest Legend Car and Bandolero purse of the year as drivers from all across the globe do battle on the speedway's frontstretch quarter-mile oval. The event will feature a day of practice on July 1 and two days of racing, culminating in the Legends Big Money 100 on Tuesday.

"We kind of plan our entire year around this event," stated Kyle Weatherman. "When you want to be the best you have to beat the best. It is really cool to race at NASCAR tracks like Charlotte and I would like nothing more than to win this series."

Kyle Weatherman is 14-years old and competes in the Legends Pro division having already racked up twenty starts this season in variety of race vehicles in preparation for this series. Along the way he has scored eight wins along with 14 top five and 15 top ten performances with only one DNF. He has made starts in his Legend car, Dirt Super Late Model, and in IMCA Modified this season. He is also the 2011 USLCI Legends Nationals champion.

Meanwhile, younger brother Clayton (13) has had an up and down season so far. Competing in the Young Lions division of the USLCI Legend Car Series, Clayton has scored nine wins in 16 starts this season with only one DNF but that DNF was a big one. In his last race at Texas Motor Speedway in early May, Clayton was making a pass for the lead but a slower car got involved and the result was a head first crash into the wall destroying his car. The incident also left Clayton with a broken thumb requiring surgery and four pins.

This morning Clayton had his cast removed and was fitted with a driving brace for his hand and will travel to Charlotte today ready to compete in round one of the ten race series. Clayton is a former winner of the Summer Shootout having claimed victory in 2010 while competing in Bandoleros.

"The cast was driving me crazy," Clayton offered. "I am so excited to get back to racing and spending he summer in Charlotte is going to be a blast."
