15-Year Old Juan Esteban Garcia to Make his Stock Car Debut

July 26, 2012 - PRLog -- 15-year old Juan Esteban Garcia will drive the #30 King Taco/Position One Motorsports Chevrolet this weekend at Madera (CA) Speedway on the one-mile banked oval in the Coors Light Open Late Model Series 100-lap feature event. The race will be Garcia's first action in a full-size stock car after great success in karting and open wheel cars.

Garcia hails from Bogota, Columbia and hopes to climb the racing ladder eventually competing at the highest levels of NASCAR.

Garcia has seven years of experience in karting and formula cars competing in his native Columbia and the United States. He most recently drove for Position One Motorsports in a go-kart in the US Super Nationals back in 2009.

The car Garcia will pilot this weekend is an older but very reliable chassis named Megan. Luis Martinez Jr. drove the car in back in March at Lake Havasu setting fast time and was among the fastest cars throughout the race.  Garcia tested the car the past two Friday's at Irwindale Speedway and quickly got up to speed turning competitive laps in over five hours of testing.

The team is excited to see what Garcia can do in a stock car. "Juan drove for us a few years ago in go karts and it is great to help him along in his racing career," stated Luis Martinez Sr., owner of Position One Motorsports.

"It's a big jump from karting to stock cars but Juan has adapted really well," said Steve Boldroff, Position One Motorsports crew chief. "It will be a new experience for Juan but we know he is more than capable and we are excited for him."
