July 26, 2012 - PRLog -- There is something about returning home that always kindles enthusiasm and excitement. For Dave Minegar, driver of the #9 Minegar Racing/A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning Chevrolet, the excitement for the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series at Meridian Speedway this weekend is much more than a homecoming for the former two-time series champion.

Minegar has only raced twice in the last two years opting to focus on raising his family and growing his career as a project manager at ESI. And while the desire to compete has never diminished, the 32-year old has enjoyed life away from the race track.

"I have missed racing but I have been able to do a lot of things I had not had time to do because of racing," Minegar said. "Vacations, camping, boating at the lake, and spending time with my family has been fantastic, but I am very anxious and excited to get back to the track."

Growing up at Meridian Speedway not only gave Minegar the passion for racing but it is where life -long friendships were formed and memories made. "I love racing at Meridian," Minegar said. "The fans are the best and the racing is always action-packed."

Minegar will have a few extra fans in the house this weekend as his employer, ESI through its ESI Express division, is the title sponsor of the Friday night event. "It has been crazy trying to get the car finished and planning our third annual ESI Express night at the races.  We will have around 100 of our employees and their families in attendance, so there is a little bit of additional pressure and excitement for the race."

The event this weekend is a special two-day program featuring more than 24 of the areas top drivers competing in full race programs on both Friday and Saturday. "I love the two-day format," Minegar offered. "What the RMCS, ESI Express, Project Filter, and Meridian Speedway did to make this happen is really exciting for racers, fans, and the sponsors."

Minegar is no stranger to success at Meridian as he is the only two-time series winner at the tight and tricky quarter-mile paved oval and he holds the track qualifying record with a quick lap of 13.145 seconds set on June 26, 2010. But winning does not come easy at Meridian Speedway or in the RMCS.

The RMCS inverts the starting grid putting the fast qualifiers at the tail to start the race. "The series teaches you patience and how to drive," Minegar said. "Bottom line is fans will see a great race and if you win in this series then you really earned it."
