Follow on Google News | Mike Evans to Receive Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award at CEO National ConferenceMike Evans of Grubhub will be inducted into the CEO Hall of Fame as Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2012 CEO National Conference.
Just as 60 hopefuls will enter their business ideas into the 2012 National Elevator Pitch Competition at the National Conference, Grubhub started off as an entry in a business plan competition. In 2006, Mike Evans and Matt Maloney won first place in the University of Chicago Edward L. Kaplan New Ventyre Challenge with their business plan idea for Grubub. Mike’s idea for Grubhub came from a frustration he experienced while attempting to find local restaurants that would deliver food. After yet another bad delivery experience, he started writing the original version of Grubhub, and from there the company was bootstrapped until winning the business plan competition and then securing an initial round of funding. To date, Grubhub has raised $84 million in capital. Evans will speak in front of over 1200 entrepreneurial minded college students, faculty, and entrepreneurs. The conference is open to all college students and the public. Registration is currently open: http://www.cvent.com/ For more information about the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ End
