Doss dominates AABLMS action at Eureka

Oct. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- In two previous visits to the 3/8-mile paved fairgrounds oval in Eureka, CA, Jeremy Doss has come up a bit short settling for runner-up finishes. That changed this past weekend when the 15-year old phenom blistered his own track record in qualifying and cruised to victory in the 100-lap Open Comp special event for the Airport Auto Brokers Late Model Series (AABLMS).

Doss topped the regions best Late Model Stock Car drivers in qualifying, finished second in his heat race and would start third for the 100-lap feature race Sunday afternoon.

When the race got underway, Doss focused on the end and not the beginning opting to not push his Lakeport Ford sponsored Ford Fusion to hard in the early going.

The plan was to save his tires and begin to make a move at the midway point in the race. Doss executed the plan to perfection picking up the pace and making moves as the situation allowed.  By lap 50 he had taken over the top spot and then had to set up a defensive strategy.

Over the final 40-laps, Doss negotiated several restarts after the action was slowed due to on-track incidents. After each restart, the second and third place cars made aggressive moves on the youngster but each time he slammed the door keeping them at bay.

When the checkered flag flew, Doss collected his sixth AABLM Series victory of the season and extended his series point lead over Forrest Kuecker.

"It was a great weekend for the team," Doss offered. "When you have a setup like this under the car it is really easy to drive. My crew chief, Dale Dodds, does an awesome job and the whole crew works so hard. To win is a team effort and we have a great team."

In his short stock car career, Doss has scored victories in local Late Model action, the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenges Series, and in the AABLM Series firmly establishing his credentials as one of the top up and coming race car drivers from the west coast. In his AABLM Series career, he has twelve starts with six wins, eleven top five finishes, and three top qualifying efforts.

Doss will celebrate this week by visiting his grandmother and then heading to Disneyland as he has a week off of school for independent study. The next AABLM Series event for Jeremy Doss and the Nitro Racing team is October 19-21 at Ukiah (CA) Speedway. The race will be the series first visit this season to the 1/4-mile paved oval.

Doss has a few more planned races on his 2012 schedule with the possibility of a few special events later in the year. Plans call for him to move up to the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour next season along with competing in select RMCS, AABLMS, and various special events that will feature more than thirty races throughout 2013.
