PROGRESS SOFTWARE hosts the StartupWeekend at Hyderabad

Nov. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Hyderabad  15th November 2012: Progress Software India as part of their endeavor to create and nurture a startup ecosystem in the country, is hosting the StartupWeekend from 16th -18th Nov 2012 at the Progress Software campus, ilabs Madhapur.

The StartupWeekend is being hosted in 100+ cities with more than 10,000 participants and 1,200 teams across the globe and the winning idea gets to fly to RIO to compete on a global platform - The Global Startup Battle.

This Global Startup Battle presents a brilliant opportunity to experience startup bootstrapping just over a compressed 54 hours where Startups, soon-to-be-startups, product and UI/UX designers, geeky engineers, graphics/UI developers, biz and market whizzes will participate. All will converge to form multi-faceted teams to "build" first version of a startup, product site and business model in just one weekend.

The participants from Hyderabad will first pitch their ideas on Friday, November 16th, night. The top 10 pitches will be selected by voting and the selected ideas will form their teams. During the course of the next two days, they will interact with mentors, target and acquire customers and try to build a minimum viable product. Then finally on Sunday, all the teams will present to a distinguished team of entrepreneurs, VCs and Angels who will select the top 3 ideas.

Also, the teams will be mentored by Y.Ravi, Head of data services in Airtel AP.

This year’s StartUp weekend is hosted by Progress Software and will witness 10 teams participating in the program from Hyderabad. Progress Software is also giving access to parts of Progress Cloud platforms, that startups can use to build their prototypes and also gain hands on cloud based exposure. The winning idea from Hyderabad will get an entry to compete at the Global Startup Battle scheduled to be held at Rio (Brazil).

Progress Software India has been supporting various startup initiatives in the country and also mentoring various Student startup teams through their ‘Progress University Program’ Initiative by setting up incubation centers in universities and institutions.
