Follow on Google News | First Ever Hockey City Classic in ChicagoChicago fans can get their fill of hockey at Soldier Field for first ever Hockey City Classic in 2013
Tickets are now on sale for the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic, which will feature four top-tier college ice hockey teams, playing two games in a one-day doubleheader. At noon, the puck drops as the University of Notre Dame takes on Miami University. Almost immediately afterward at 3:30 p.m. the ice will be taken over by a border battle match-up between two rival schools, the University of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin. In order to properly prepare Chicagoans for this exciting new winter tradition – thanks to the partnership between Intersport, Soldier Field, and the Chicago Park District – the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic will be preceded by two full weeks of festivities out on the ice. These chilly activities will offer fun for the whole family, and will include two days of free public skating, youth hockey events, high school and adult hockey events, private ice rentals, and more. Individual tickets are currently on sale, with prices ranging from $15-$85. Tickets will be valid for both games. For those who plan to drive to the event, note that all Soldier Field parking lots will be open that Sunday. For those coming in from out of town for the day, La Quinta is the preferred fan hotel for the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic. Other nearby hotels to consider includes the Hyatt Regency and Hilton Chicago.
