Celebrity Chef du Jour Returns for 2013 Taste of Chicago

CHICAGO - May 26, 2013 - PRLog -- Returning for a second stint as part of the 2013 Taste of Chicago (http://www.conciergepreferred.com/chicago-festivals/5259-2013-taste-of-chicago.html) summer food festival, the Mazda6 Celebrity Chef du Jour will offer a series of three-course, sit-down meals, prepared for diners by a line-up of A-list celebrity chefs. This new, upscale dining option will be served in a beautiful, air-conditioned pavilion, for the low price of just $40 per diner. Event Times and Tickets

The Taste of Chicago runs July 10th – 14th, and a different Celebrity Chef du Jour seating will be available each day. On Wednesday, July 10 – Friday, July 12 there will be dinner seatings at 6:30 p.m., then on Saturday a brunch will be offered at noon, and lunch will be offered on Sunday at noon. A different celebrity chef will prepare each day’s meal, and the chefs will have additional help from students from the Washburne Culinary Institute – a long-standing, Chicago-based, culinary arts school. The celebrity chefs who will be in attendance are listed below, according to the day of the festival that they will be preparing the high-end fare.

The Chefs

The carefully selected celebrity chefs invited to take part in this year’s Celebrity Chef du Jour program include Rick Bayless, Carrie Nahabedian, Gluseppe Tentori, Gale Gand, The Hearty Boys, and Paul Kahan. Each of these master chefs will present their special festival guests with an unforgettable dining experience, and diners will also have a chance to meet the talented chef on duty on the day or evening that they attend.

On Wednesday, Rick Bayless will kick off the Celebrity Chef du Jour event, preparing dinner for opening night. Bayless is Bravo’s Top Chef Master, and owner of the Frontera Grill (http://www.conciergepreferred.com/chicago-restaurants/377...) and a number of other famous restaurants. Carrie Nahabedian, known for opening the three-time Michelin star winning restaurant NAHA, will take over on Thursday evening. Then on Friday evening, Gluseppe Tentori, executive chef at BOKA Restaurant and a fellow Michelin star winner, will serve up the last dinner session.

Next, Gale Gand will team up with The Hearty Boys as these three chefs dish up a decadent Saturday brunch. The founding executive pastry chef at Tru, Gale Gand is a former winner of the James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef of the Year. His partners, The Hearty Boys, were the original winners of “Search for the Next Food Network Star.” Together, these three talented chefs are sure to prepare a memorable menu. Then last but never least, Paul Kahan, the 2013 winner of the James Beard Foundation Outstanding Chef Award, and 2004 winner of the James Beard Best Chef of the Midwest, will serve lunch on Sunday, to close out this exciting event.
