Follow on Google News | Green Festival Returns to ChicagoGreen Festival is returning to Chicago on the weekend of May 18-19 at historic Navy Pier.
In addition to the over 24,000 attendees of the 2012 festival, the groups and individuals in attendance at Green Festival last year in Chicago included a great number of local, regional, and national businesses dedicated to bringing and maintaining a sustainable lifestyle in the city of Chicago. Vegan and vegetarian cuisine, eco-fashion, organic body products, non-toxic cleaning products, green services, education, and career opportunities were just some of the things that businesses brought to the table in 2012. Green Festival 2013 will return with many of the great organizations that were in attendance last year and build upon their success as they introduce a range of new and exciting businesses to the fold. Attendees of Green Festivals in Chicago and throughout the country have enjoyed speeches and discussions by some of the most well known names in the United States and world when it comes to sustainability, social justice, and the promotion of an ecological worldview. Some of the past speakers have included: Amy Goodman, Cornel West, Medea Benjamin, Alice Walker, and Bill McKibben. In 2012, Green Festival Chicago welcomed activists Jesse Jackson and Van Jones, both of who gave rousing and reflective speeches about the important social, political, and economic impacts of living an ecologically sustainable lifestyle. More inspiring and thoughtful guests look to return to Green Festival Chicago in 2013. As the world changes, so does the need to adapt and change habits as consumers and citizens of cities and as members of a larger society. Green Festival Chicago this year will again join community leaders, activists, and business owners dedicated to raising ecological consciousness so the Earth can be preserved for generations to come.
