Follow on Google News | Baconfest Chicago 2013 Set for April 20thThe most bacon-filled festival of the year will be on the University of Illinois campus this year.
This nationally renowned festival offers Chicago’s best chefs a fun chance to create and serve a range of delectable bacon dishes to thousands of eager attendees. Over fifty stations will be provided for those looking for the fully-fledged bacon-dining experience. In addition, liquor sponsors will be serving cocktails, beer, and wine designed to compliment each bacon dish. How will everyone know which bacon was best? A panel of judges will present the Golden Rasher, along with other awards for ‘achievement in the bacon arts’ to worthy candidates! Bacon-friendly brands will also be there to sell bacon-related wares, and network with the bacon-loving community. The festival will be split into two equally enticing shifts – Lunch and Dinner. Both shifts will also feature a special “VIP Hour.” The Lunch Shift VIP Hour will take place from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., immediately followed by the two-and-a-half hour General Admission event from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Dinner Shift VIP Hour will run from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by the General Admission event from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This popular festival will be drawing crowds of Chicago weekenders to the UIC Forum on University of Illinois campus. General Admission tickets (http://baconfestchicago.com/ While bacon may not be good for anyone’s health, Baconfest Chicago is probably good for someone else’s. A portion of the proceeds from all this cooked pig will go to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and Chicago Baconfest will also organize a raffle, a food drive, and a volunteer day to support the GCFD’s mission. Volunteers will help out at the Depository’s repacking warehouse, and in doing so will be helping to eliminate hunger here in the Windy City.
